Why #IstandwithCEU

For seven months I am part of the Central European University family. The first public event that I attended here was "The Hate Speech Monologues." It's a collection of short tales of students that have suffered from discrimination, hate, and misery. Now, I can surely say the whole University can make one of those monologs. CEU was created in 1991 to help the countries from the region and worldwide in coping with the new changes happening all over.

The location is as symbolical for its purpose. The bridges of Budapest help linking the two seemingly different parts of the city. But when you get the feel of Budapest, you understand that this unity is what makes up its soul.

In a similar manner, CEU helps you understand things from different perspectives. It helps you deal with serious but often misunderstood issues, like gender and the global south. Just being in the room with twenty people from all over the world changes your perspective in a way that wil…
